Becoming Catholic

Want to become Catholic?

RCIA (Rite of Christian initiation for Adults), is an opportunity to find out more about the basic tenants of the Catholic faith.   RCIA is the process through which non-baptized men and women enter the Catholic Church. (It is also for those baptized in a different faith tradition who wish to become Catholic  AND baptized Catholics who never received First Communion or Confirmation).

The RCIA process includes several stages marked by study, prayer and rites at Mass.  Participants seeking entry into the Church are known as catechumens (not baptized). They undergo a process of conversion as they study the Gospel, profess faith in Jesus and the Catholic Church, and receive the sacraments of baptism, confirmation and Holy Eucharist at the Easter Vigil.

Those who are already baptized, are known as candidates.  At the Easter Vigil they will receive the Sacraments of Initiation that they have not already received (Communion & Confirmation)

For the Baptized and Confirmed Catholic RCIA will reinvigorate your love of the Church, as well as answer any questions that you currently have about your faith.  This study of the Catechism of the Catholic Church will deepen the faith of all participants.   We are always in need of sponsors as well.

St. Mark’s, St. Mary’s, and St. Mary’s of the Purification offers a combined RCIA process.  We meet weekly on Wednesday from 7 - 8:15 pm.

Talk to family and friends about this journey. It is most definitely life changing.
